Through a strategic alliance with a Registered Training Organisation, GREEN RTO, Sustainable Directions are able to offer a number of accredited "green" training courses. For a short period of time, the cost of these courses will be 90% funded by the federal government as part of the Green Skills program. Three courses are available:

- Certificate IV in Carbon Management
- Certificate IV in Business Sustainability Assessments.

Certificate IV in Carbon Management

Carbon Management is emerging as one of the most 'in-demand' commercial qualifications for 2011 and beyond. The Certificate IV in Carbon Management is an accredited workplace qualification for managers and supervisors to enable and support the development of carbon management and reduction strategies for enterprises. This para-professional qualification is designed for candidates at the supervisor, manager and executive level. Certificate IV graduates learn skills and competencies to enable them to understand the strategic implications of carbon emissions for business and how reduction strategies can be implemented using business planning frameworks and supported by existing business systems.

This program is ideal for members of a "Green Team" or for Managers who have been given the responsibility of managing an organisation's environmental strategies and objectives.

Certificate IV in Business Sustainability Assessment

This program is designed to provide a range of practical skills and underpinning knowledge that will enable graduates to undertake a Business Sustainability Assessment, to promote more efficient use of resources and advise the commercial sector on the savings that can be achieved through improved sustainability actions and initiatives. This course is ideal if you wish to add Business Sustainability Assessments to your range of services or can be very useful for internal property or facility managers to assess the sustainability of facilities on an ongoing basis. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

* Assess an organisation's performance in the areas of energy use, waste generation, water use and thermal performance

* Identify opportunities to make savings and improve performance in these areas

* Identify opportunities for sustainable procurement and promote sustainability policy development

* Report to businesses with recommendations to adopt more sustainable practices to reduce their energy, water, waste, resource use and greenhouse emissions

The course will be appropriate for:

* unemployed candidates looking to gain skills in the area of sustainability assessment for specific employment opportunities

* existing employees, business operators and owners wishing to gain the skills necessary to improve the sustainability of their operations, while enhancing their environmental credentials

* Current sustainability officers within organizations who wish to further develop or update their skills

* Current sustainability assessors who do not presently have formal recognition of their skills
